Maryland Highway Safety Foundation is consistantly advocating for new and improved laws regarding driving safety, driver responsibility and general travel on our roads and highways. Since our inception in 2008, we have been one of the leading advocates of the no-texting bill (HB 72) that was signed into law by Governor Martin O’Malley effective October 2009, as well as the read out of text messages (HB192). The MHSF also supported the hands-free legislation during the 2010 session, which was a success.  Beginning October 1, 2010, drivers in Maryland will no longer be able to dial or receive calls with their hand-held cell phones while driving a vehicle.

Our work in Annapolis has resulted in huge victories for Maryland drivers. The Maryland Highway Safety Foundation is committed to furthering our mission of educating motorists, preventing collisions, and saving lives through our legislative efforts.  We hope that these new laws will help reduce the number of senseless deaths on our roads due to distracted driving.

Please help us be heard in Annapolis. We encourage you to contact your local legislative representative and get involved in making a difference for your local community and beyond.
